A New Centre for Compassionate Care in the Bow Valley
We are excited to share the vision for the Pestell Centre for Compassionate Care in the Bow Valley—an inclusive space designed to support individuals and families as they navigate the challenges of life-changing illnesses. This Centre will stand as a living testament to the values that Bow Valley Palliative holds dear: dignity, care, and excellence. It will be a peaceful and welcoming haven, where those in need of palliative care can find solace, surrounded by compassionate volunteers, skilled healthcare professionals, and a community that deeply cares.
This Centre will support people at every stage of the palliative journey—from diagnosis and living well, to end of life. It will also offer a place for grief support for families and loved ones, creating a space to heal and reflect during challenging times. With your support, this dream of a “home away from home” for the Bow Valley community will become a reality.
Momentum and excitement are building for The Pestell Centre for Compassionate Care! With the development permit approved, we are now moving towards final approvals to build on the land generously donated by Jan and Bernie McCaffery. We had the pleasure of welcoming several donors and community members for a tour of the site earlier in July. Our Owner’s Representative, Rob Copeland and CANA Construction Manager, Cody Pearson shared plans for the Centre and talked about our vision for this beautiful and welcoming space. We are excited to be planning a groundbreaking this fall, which will mark an important milestone in bringing this much-needed community resource to the Bow Valley.
As we move towards this next phase, we are focusing our fundraising efforts on diversification of funds and raising awareness of the need in the community. In addition to pursuing capital grant opportunities, we are inviting businesses, community members and partners to hear more about the work we are doing and the vision for this transformational project. Every contribution helps build a place of compassion, dignity and care for individuals and families in our community.

Combining the best of both residential hospice care and community outreach, ensuring that all Bow Valley residents can receive the care they need, in the comfort of their own homes or at the Centre.

Work has begun on the access road to the site, including the installation of key utilities that will service the Centre once operational. Fencing is up around the site, and the subdivision of the land is in its final stages. We anticipate that the land will be formally transferred to Bow Valley Palliative this month, marking an important milestone toward full site development.
